Anyway… if you were looking for Tech Support and you somehow or inadvertently access this page… then you may want to read this before calling your Tech Support guy. This may even save your life.
So most of you know what a call center is. What Customer Service and Tech Support is. If you are one of those who frequently calls the Help line or the Tech Support Line, you may want to consider these few tips that I dig up.. To avoid you looking or sounding like an idiot. 🙂
Restart the computer: If the computer is slow, chances are, it’s tired.Rebooting or restarting the computer will refreshen your computer.
Know how to recreate the problem: This not only help you isolate the main problem. This will also help the Tech Support know how the problem happens. If you are getting any error message, write it down, since this information is critical in knowing the exact cause of the problem.
Try to fix the problem yourself: If the problem is just a minor problem say you cannot print. Check if the printer is turned on, if the printer has a paper or if there is an ink. Sometimes small things like checking turning on the device will save you time and the frustration of being on hold, while waiting for the Tech to pickup your call.
And if everything else failed and you feel that you need to call the experts. Then do so, no ones stopping you from picking up the phone and dial the dreadful “1-800-blah-blahh” number. 🙂
So when talking to a Tech Support Agent or even a Customer agent, please remember these few simple things.
Patience is a virtue: Be patient!! You’re not the only one calling for help. Chances are there could be a number of people calling. So wait until you get your turn. The people you talking to are trained professional, so don’t try to be bossy or be that know-it-all person. Chances.. you know nothing about your computer. If you are, then why are you calling Tech Support for? hehehe…
Shouting or Yelling: will not solve the problem. That’s why I placed being patient first. 🙂
Be honest: If you did access a porn site, then tell them. Since that may have caused those pop ads to appear none stop on your computer. Don’t be afraid to tell the tech guy that you messed up. This will allow them to kow the cause the problem. 🙂
Follow the steps that was given to you to the “T”: The steps given to you may be long but those are tried and tested solution that will fix your problem. If they specify that you download all the updates, then download them all. Do not try to skip a steps, that may cause even more problem. If unsure, you can always call back for clarification… hehehe
Tech Support is not a computer nor a robot: Know that you are also talking to a human being. Asking them if they are a computer or a robot hurts even if they tell you that “It’s OK”. And no… we tech support did not cause the problem on your computer we don’t even know why you have that problem in the first place.

Fixing the computer takes time and effort. This process needs the cooperation of both the tech and the caller. Bottom line, being a tech support is not as easy job as other may think. But does have its up and down side. So the next time you call the Tech Support, keep in mind that you are talking to people who are there to help you fix the problem. You may or may have not caused the problem but we the Tech Support are here to help. 🙂
