Tech Tips: How uninstall or remove Internet Explorer 8?

Written by | Tech

After sometime of using IE 8.0 on my work PC and hoping that of the Windows updates will fix the problem, I’ve decided to remove it. As with any programs that you download and install, the first thing that you need to do to remove the program is to go to the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS from the CONTROL PANEL, looking at the program list, as expected, IE 8.0 is not included on the Currently Installed Programs. The second thing that I did is to consult our friend Google… and I always get my answer. 🙂 From MS web site, they have page dedicated to information users on “how to uninstall IE 8.0”, on that web site, you will need to download the uninstaller file which of course will do all the work in removing IE 8.0 for you.

If you happen install Internet Explorer 8.0 and want to remove it, you can follow the steps as indicated on Microsoft’s web site. This will restore the previous version Internet Explorer that you have with all the settings and customization that you have before you upgraded to Internet Explorer 8.0(IE 8.0)

You can access the address:, for the complete steps.

To directly download the uninstaller file, click this link.

What’s weird about this is that the download link has the icon “” and the text is “FIX THIS PROBLEM” which gives the impression that IE 8.0 may still have some problem or can cause problem to the user’s computer…hmmmm… or may be it’s just a minor typographical error, I sure hope no one got fired because of this, like the mistake made on Kim Kardashian Sexy Picture. 🙂
