Vulnerability Found in Adobe Reader JavaScript Function

From US-CERT, the security hole was due to an error in the ‘getAnnots()’ JavaScript function. The hole allows malicious user to remotely execute arbitrary code.

US-CERT encourages users and administrators to disable JavaScript in Adobe Reader to help mitigate the risk. To disable JavaScript in Adobe Reader, open the General Preferences dialog box. From the Edit-Preferences-JavaScript menu, un-check Enable Acrobat JavaScript.

MS Office 2007 SP2

The Redmond giant has released the much-anticipated and needed update for its Office 2007 Suite. More than 600 updates and fixes are included in the 290.2 MB update, one of the major improvement is the Open Document, like Word (.odt), Excel (.ods), and Powerpoint (.odp); and the ability to save a file in PDF format using all applications.

The updates is supported by the following Operating Systems:

  • Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2
  • Windows Server 2008
  • Windows Vista Service Pack 1
  • Windows XP Service Pack 3
