Here’s what everyone is waiting for or should I say wishing for. Yes, the almost 2 year old specs of the Mac Book Pro is now using the latest Intel Core i5 and i7 processors in place of the Core 2 Duo processor a much faster processors and even increase battery life. However of the 3 models of MacBook Pro only the 15-inch and 17-inch gets the upgrade, while the 13-inch will still be using the Core 2 Duo processor.
The 15-inch and 17-inch will also be using NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M graphics card and uses the Apple’s new automatic graphics switching technology that toggles seamlessly between powerful NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M and energy efficient Intel HD Graphics processors. The technology detects application that requires more graphics power switches them to the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M graphics card automatically without restarting or logging in and out of the computer.
“The new MacBook Pro is as advanced on the inside as it is stunning on the outside,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “With faster processors, amazing graphics and up to three more hours of battery life, the new MacBook Pro delivers both performance and efficiency.”
With this upgrade, the 13-inch model will have 2 configuration, 15-inch have 3 configuration and one for the 17-inch model. You check the chart for a quick look of all 6 configuration.
With these new specs, Apple have a lot of catching up to do, specially for those who already have the Core i5 and i7 processors. I sure wish I can get my hands on one of these unit for a real world test! 🙂
