If you’re one of the millions of Google fan then you already know about the face lifts that Google made with the new Search Results. Early May 2010, Google incorporated Google a left sidebar (similar to blog sidebars) that includes popular Google features like News, Updates, Images, Videos and Books. Another drop down menu will appear right below these popular features. The drop down menu includes filters like blogs, quotes and images as well as relevance and time/dates.
People find this uncharacteristic of Google by moving away from its simple yet easy to use and navigate Google Search results. I personally, I initially find it confusing but I got used to the features and finds it very useful and compelling updates to the old Google layout.
If this is an indication that Google will no longer be the minimalist search engine that we all love, then this could a start of a more dynamic and feature rich Google. But if you are the “if-it-ain’t-broken-don’t-fix-it” type of person and prefer the old Google Search Result, then you can still get the old Google Search result layout.
Just visit http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=all, then by all means save it, bookmark it, you can even set it as your home page for all eternity. 🙂
What is your take on the changes made by Google to it’s search result layout? I for one.. “Like” it.
