YouTube goes Mobile

Written by | Tech

July 7 or July 8, 2010 (depending where you are in the world), YouTube launched the YouTube mobile site, which incorporates YouTube’s features like search and browse video, creating playlist, and the ability to “Favorite,” “Like,” “Unlike,” and “Flag” videos directly from your mobile device.

To access the new YouTube mobile, just type in the “m.youtube.com” on your mobile browser. You can also login to your YouTube account by tapping the SIGN IN link. Then to upload your video, you will need to send your video to a generated email address using the domain “@m.youtube.com” to upload your videos.

Other notable feature of YouTube Mobile are:

  • Fast loading
  • New UI for “touch” enabled devices like Android and iPhones (heck even iPods)
  • Related Videos
  • Comments
  • Rate and Flag a video
  • You can choose from HQ or Normal Quality video,
  • Video filter per country like Australia, Brazil, Canada, Czech Rep, Germany, Spain, France, UK, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, India, Italy, Japan, S. Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Taiwan and South Africa
  • Unfortunately no EMBED!!!

Remember its “m.youtube.com” bookmark it to easily access YouTube Mobile on your device. I tried viewing some videos and they’re like watching a video locally saved in the device with a minimal buffering. I’m connected via wifi by the way.

Here’s the promotional video of YouTube Mobile.

The initial site will be in English but they’ll be rolling out other languages in the coming months. The fact that you can play Youtube Video on iPhone, YouTube means that YouTube Mobile Supports HTML5.

Updates: Additional features, countries and upload process.
