I was reading an article from ReadWriteWeb, which has the title “Philadelphia Wants $300 Business License From Bloggers Who Make No Money” in the article the City if Phillly is asking bloggers who enables “advertising” to register it as a business, then pay for a license and pay taxes on their profits no matter how small.
Yeah.. they’re just doing their job to collect tax but when you earn $11 and you need to pay $50 to $300 for a license, that’s a whole different story. I guess, that’s their law and everyone must abide by it.
Anyhow, after reading the article it made me wonder what if every city gov. requires every blogger to secure a business permit/license and place ads on them, or worst requires us to disclose the earnings that we got from blogging, not just the ads placement but also the product sponsorship. I guess to know what’t not, we need to know the rules and policy regarding small businesses.
But what if it does happens? Is this is the end of blogging or would you secure a license just to continue blogging? You can just post your views and comments below. 🙂
