After being bought by HP for a whopping $1.2 Billion, 6 months later HP introduces the first device to run webOS 2.0, HP’s new Palm Pre 2. The initially France will be the first country where Palm Pre 2 will be released, US and Canada will be in the coming months.
Specs wise Palm Pre 2 is almost identical to the Palm Pre, the only difference that you will see is the storage as well as the camera, which uses 5 mega pixel wherein the Palm Pre only uses 3 mega pixel. Software wise, Palm Pre 2 comes with the updated webOS 2.0, while the Palm Pre will be updates later.
You can check the comparison chart between Palm Pre and Palm Pre 2. Highlighted in green are the only difference between the two.
With the release of Palm Pre 2, come the webOS 2. HP’s webOS 2 boast of true multitasking feature, flash support, skype mobile and a mobile browser that add support for HTML 5.
Below are the key features of HP/Palm’s new webOS 2.0:
Adobe Flash 10.1 beta
Quick Office Connect Mobile suite
Browser support for more HTML5 features
Bluetooth keyboard Support
So far there has been no announced price but what we know is that Verizon Wireless will be the service provider of Palm Pre 2 once it hit the US shore. I’d expect it within the price range of the Palm Pre which is only $199.00 with 2 year contract.
