Samsung installing Keyloggers in their Laptop?

Written by | Tech

Did you just bought a new Samsung R525 or R540 laptops? Well if you did better remove or have someone remove the program StarLogger that is installed in the c:windowsSL folder. It appears that our friend Samsung install that program to “monitor the performance of the machine and to find out how it is being used.”, if you buy that explanation then be my guess and keep the program running in your computer.

The StarLogger was discovered by Mohamed Hassan, inside his new Samsung R525 and R540 laptops. Btw, Mohamed Hassan is a MSIA, CISSP, CISA graduated from the Master of Science in Information Assurance (MSIA) program from Norwich University in 2009, so he really knows something is fishy going on with that program. Hassan already reported this to Samsung and the supervisor that he was talking to said

Samsung did knowingly put this software on the laptop to, as he put it, “monitor the performance of the machine and to find out how it is being used.”

For those using Samsung R525 or R540, what can you say about Hassan claim? Just drop me a comment below for your reaction.

Update: Samsung already issued an official statement: Samsung’s response to the keylogger issue!!
