Here’s something for incoming students who wish to impress their classmate, not just in the classroom but also in your dorm. Microsoft has something for incoming students this school year, MS offering a free Xbox 360 for your purchase of Windows 7 PC.

You can get the free Xbox when you order online using your “.edu” email address and you will need to buy through partnered retailers like Dell.com, Hp.com or via Microsoft’s online store. But if you want buy your PC the old fashion way, just bring your student ID to any Best Buy or any Microsoft Store retail to buy your Windows 7 PC. So when you got your Windows 7 PC and every checks out OK, you will get a free Xbox 360 4GB console which is currently selling at $200.

The only catch with this promo, is that your purchase should be over $699 and the promo for US residents only which starts on May 22 up to September 9, though there’s a good chance that this promo will also be available in France and Canada.

Looks like Microsoft wants to boost Xbox’s sales with this promo. Do we hear Apple making similar move this school season? What do you think?
