Here’s something for social media and gaming addicts. Sony recently announce at the GamesCon that the upcoming Sony PlayStation Portable “Vita” will support social media apps like Facebook, Twitter, Fourquare and Skype app. The social apps are free downloads from the PlayStation®Store, and easily be activated by selecting their respective icons that can be found on the home screen, games are also said to be downloadable from the PSP Store as well.
It’s powered by quad-core ARM processor (twice the power of iPad 2) with a SGX543MP4+ GPU, 5 inch multi-touch OLED screen and supports Wi-Fi and 3G/Wi-Fi connectivity. The PSP “Vita” is slated to hit the Japanese market by the end of 2011, US and Europe in the early part of 2012. Specs wise, PSP Vita has more power than any smartphone and tablets in the market. The SRP for the Wifi model is $249 and $300 for the 3G/Wi-Fi variant.
The new PSP Vita will be fighting for the now getting-crowded mobile gaming space, against smartphones, iOS devices and Nintendo Wii U that was also announced from the last E3 Expo last June.
