Standalone Facebook Messenger (at this time) not available outside the United States

Facebook just release a standalone Facebook Messenger App that will allow you to send message to your friends, groups of friends or anyone in your mobile contacts. It’s a 5.8 MB app that you can download and instal on your iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 4.0 or later.

Another cool feature of FB Messenger is that you will not miss any message that is sent to you. It work like this, if your friend sent you a message and your not available on the FB Messenger, the message pops up to your Facebook on the web account, if you’re not available there, then it will be sent to you as a Facebook message were you can access it anytime.

The App will initially be available in United States, it is still being rolled out in other region, if you’re in the Philippines, then try to install the Facebook Messenger App, you’ll get this screen.

The Facebook Messenger app will be a big factor for Facebook in competing against other company and keep the 750 million plus Facebook user happy, specially with the upcoming release of iOS 5 with iMessenger and the heating competition with Google+.
