ECE Grads better brush up on your resume and interview skills because Canon just announced that it will open and build a manufacturing plant in the Philippines. The new company, Canon Business Machines (Philippines), Inc. will be located in Batangas’ First Philippines Industrial Park and will produce Canon Laser Printer, which Canon said will be in high-demand and at the same time brewing competition from other companies.
Canon will invest 6 billion yen (approx. Php 3.4 billion) and that will have at least 5000 employees by April 2013. Canon chooses the Philippines because of many people in the country can speak and understand English, I bet China and Taiwan where being considered for this as well.
Aside from the Canon Business Machines (Philippines), Inc., Canon already have two existing Philippines-based subsidiaries; the Canon Information Technologies Philippines, Inc. and Canon Marketing (Philippines), Inc. FOr more information about the announcement, you can read the full PR here.
