It looks like Samsung Galaxy Note is about to have a competition, since LG will entering the 5″ smartphone/tablet space with its new LG Optimus VU smartphone/tablet, announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The 5″ IPS LCD display of the LG Optimus VU has a 4:3 aspect ratio with 1024×768 resolution and comes with a stylus, it’s powered by a 5 GHz dual-core processor, running Android 2.3 (upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich). LG is yet to release the official specs but LG did mention the key specs like the 8 Mp rear camera, LTE support and 2080mAh battery. You can read the full PR after the break for more info.
As pointed out by Yugatech, the 4:3 aspect ratio of LG Optimus VU is more common on tablets than in smartphones, so we can consider the new LG Optimus VU as a miniaturized tablet with a phone capability, which different from the Samsung Galaxy Note which is marketed by Samsung as a smartphone and as I pointed out looks like a larger version of the Galaxy SII.
It’s interesting to see how LG will promote and market the new LG Optimus VU, which will be first available in Korea in March then later to the rest of the world. You can find more photos and additional information from the source link below.
