Vodafone is setting-up shop in the Philippines

Written by | Tech, Telecom

It looks like someone is about to challenge the duo-poly of Smart and Globe telecom in the Philippines, since Vodafone is preparing to setup shop in the Philippines, proof of this are Vodafone Philippines’ Youtube, Twitter and Facebook account. Though not much information have been revealed by these account except for the words words “WE ARE COMING SOON!”

According to Yugatech:

Vodafone is the largest telecom company in the world (based on revenues) and the 2nd largest in terms of subscriber base…. Vodafone is present in over 30 countries worldwide and with 40 other partnerships with other telcos. They have operations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and the United States. In the Philippines, Vodafone lists Smart as one of its partners (probably for roaming?)

And to make things more interesting both of the domain vodafone.com.ph and vodafone.ph have been registered as well. Vodafone.com.ph by Vodafone Group Plc, while vodafone.ph was registered by Vodafone Group Services Limited and Ravi Mohindra who (using Google) is Vodafone’s Head of Legal for Brand and New Media.

Since Vodafone offers a number services it’s still unsure what services they’ll be offering in the Philippines. I guess, we’ll just have to wait and see, so what do you think?
