Trend Micro partners with Facebook for online security

Written by | Facebook, Internet, Social Media, Tech

Trend Micro recently announced its partnership with the social network giant Facebook to make the site better protected.

With this partnership, Facebook is going to leverage the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network that will help the website filter out those malicious links eventually stopping malware attacks. This will help members feel that they protected against cybercriminals when they are logged in to Facebook.

The Smart Protection Network, as Trend Micro puts it, “uses a global network of threat intelligence sensors to continually update email, web, and file reputation databases in the cloud, identifying and blocking threats in real time.”

Along with the said partnership, Trend Micro is also giving out complimentary copies of the security software to Facebook subscribers. Users will just have to “like” the Fearless Web Facebook Page to avail of the 6 months subscription to any of the two security software: Trend Micro Security Essentials for Windows or Trend Micro Smart Surfing for Mac. This offer is available to Facebook users in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. This offer, however, is possible to be extended to other countries in the coming months.

Again, to get the 6-month complimentary copy of the Trend Micro security software, visit the Facebook Security Software section or just become a fan of the Trend Micro Fearless Web Facebook community.

So what is Websense doing then? Didn’t they partner with Facebook as well?

  2. Abiel Abuy says:

I think websense is more of a web filtering service than full blown security software.
