Microsoft did not just announced a target date but they specifically said that Windows 8 will be available on October 26, 2012, whether via upgrade path or getting a new computer. The announcement was made by Steven Sinofsky; President of the Windows and Windows Live Division, at Microsoft’s annual sales meeting.

In case you’re wondering Windows 8 will be available in 109 languages across 231 markets globally, that more or less means that Windows 8 will be available where ever you are and whatever your language is. The upgrade path to Windows 8 is; $39.99 for users with Windows XP or above. Windows 8 Pro will also be available for $14.99 for anyone who purchases a Windows 7 PC between June 2, 2012 and Jan. 31, 2013.

Can’t wait until October? Then you can either try and use the Windows 8 release preview which is currently available or wait for Windows 8 RTM which is slated to be completed on the first week of August 2012.

Now if only they (Microsoft) do the same thing with Microsoft Surface that would definitely be sweet!
