Senator TG Guingona wants to repeal the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, at least part of it!

Senator TG Guingona plans to repeal the recently passed RA 10175 or better known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 which was approved by President Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino last September 12, 2012.

Senator TG Guingona is checking his options on how to some provisions of the law most notably the online libel part, since he believes that some part of the Cybercrime Prevention Act are unconstitutional and could restrict our freedom of expression and speech, specially online and on social media sites. Another part of the law that Senator TG Guingona disagree with is the provision penalizing obscenity online (cybersex).

He said in article on Rappler, which I believe sum up all the opinion of Pinoy Netizen.

“…legislators have no right to dictate what people should see or not see”…“That’s a matter of individual choice, individual values and individual religious beliefs”.

Even though it appeared to me that Senator TG Guingona is taking this opportunity to make a name for himself specially now that it’s election season but if he can pull this off there’s no doubt a lot of netizen will be supporting Senator TG Guingona if ever he’ll run again this 2013 Election.
