Instagram is looking more and more like it’s acquirer as they announced that Instagram Profile will now have a web base version. In an announcement, Instagram said that they’ll be rolling out Instagram profiles on the web, which will be available to all instagram users by the end of this week.
The new web-base profile looks a lot like Facebook’s timeline with a dynamic cover photos and photos that you’ve set as public will be shown below in a Pinterest like fashion. Other things that you can do on the Instagram web profile are; show of your recently shared photographs, the ability to follow other instagram users, comment & like photos as well as edit your profile from the web.
The company said that the new web profile is a new way to view and share instagram online and people do not need to have an instagram account in order to view your photos and Profile. They just need to visit “instagram.com/USER” and to view a user’s web profile as well as photos that have been marked as public, though photos set as private will be visible only to logged-in Instagram users who are following you.

At this time Instagram is focused on the production of photos from mobile devices, which is why uploading from the web is not “yet” available. But with this latest evolution of Instagram, I cant help but think that Instagram is starting to become more like it’s acquirer and may soon become a full-blown social networking site.
