If you’re a Filipino app developer, developing BlackBerry 10 Apps and plan to quality for the Limited Edition BlackBerry 10 Trade-in Program, then you have until January 21, 2013 to qualify.
The Limited Edition BlackBerry 10 Trade-in Program is a, well a program where developers can swap their BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha testing device new for a new Limited Edition BlackBerry 10 smartphone.
In a post on the Blackberry Developer blog, the company said “Your BlackBerry 10 apps need to be built, signed, and submitted to BlackBerry World by January 21, 2013…In order to be eligible for a Limited Edition BlackBerry 10 smartphone, you must have received a BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha testing device, submit a qualifying app, and you must also qualify under the program terms and conditions.”
This is one of the many program that RIM created in order to make sure that there will enough apps when they officially launch their latest BB operating system, Blackberry 10 and unveiling of two BB10-powered smartphones later this month.
It remains to be seen what will be the people’s reception to these new BB devices, BB OS and the whole Blackberry ecosystem, once it hit the market. But I would certainly welcome another mobile platform and it’ll be interesting how can R.I.M. regain the smartphone crown from the current leader namely; Apple with their iPhones, iPads and the iOS ecosystem and Google via their Android mobile platform.
