Earlier Sony Playstation’s official twitter account tweeted this.
— PlayStation (@PlayStation) January 31, 2013
It looks like Sony will finally (and officially) unveil the successor to their gaming console PlayStation 3, which is up until now is assumed will be marketed as PlayStation 4 or PS 4.
The tweet doesn’t actually say much except the link will direct you to a page on playstation.com that has the date “February 20, 2013” and time “6 PM EST”, also an embedded (teaser) video that doesn’t tell you much except for the last 15 seconds of the clip, that will show all 4 icons of the buttons of the controller and that same date “February 20, 2013”.
Not much is known about the next generation Playstation until a news that broke-out last December 2012 about a job posting for saying that Sony is looking for a ‘Lead Systems Engineer’ that is believe to be for the next generation Sony Playstation a.k.a. Playstation 4 (PS4) and the job requirements and responsibilities
We previously posted that Sony was hiring a ‘Lead Systems Engineer’ that is believe to be for the next generation Sony Playstation a.k.a. Playstation 4 (PS4).
So far the “rumored” specs/components of PlayStation 4 are; AMD’s A8-3850 APU and Radeon’s HD 7670 GPU; an 8GB to 16GB of RAM; 256GB of storage (either an SSD or HD); BD ODD; has it’s own “display” or what is known as the “Omniviewer” – a head mounted autosteroptic display that can track the users head and presents a 360 image view with semi transparent AMOLED screens and a 4k resolution that is comparable to an IMAX screen resolution, similar to the Sony Personal 3D Viewer only better; a Duo-Moves or the Classic DuoShock controller with pulse sensors for biofeedback gameplay; a price tag of 350-$400 for the basic configuration and higher for any additional components; and a release date at the end of this year.
Of course nothing is official until it’s official and we just have to wait 19 more days before, Sony officially unveil what it is they want to unveil on Feb 20, 2013. Here’s hoping but not expecting! 🙂
