Life in a Tech company seldom make a compelling Hollywood Movie but movies like “Pirates of Silicon Valley”, “The Social Network” are a few movies that shows the drama on how these great Tech company started. It looks like another movie will give us a peek as how is it like to be an intern at Google.
Stars of the movie are Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson; who are two old-schooled salesmen that somehow landed an internship at Google after their company closed down. At Google the two somehow tries to blend-in and keep-up with the other 20-or-so interns and what comes next is a hilarious blend of the old-school and new school culture.
TechCrunch even reported that Google even supported in the making of the movie.
But what is a bit surprising is the degree to which it seems Google participated in the making of The Internship. The cast is said to have had access to Google’s Mountain View headquarters as they were preparing to make the movie, and Google itself has put out an enthusiastic statement of support that says: “We’re excited that Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson chose the Google campus as a backdrop for their first film together since Wedding Crashers.” Yesterday, Google’s homepage (a famously sparse space that typically only adds occasional links to its own new products or big charity causes) even included a prominent link to a Google+ Hangout with Vaughn and Wilson that was apparently part of the movie’s promotional push.
With the opening of the Google Philippines, this movie gives Pinoys a sneak peek at how’s it like to be an intern (working) at Google and it’ll be interesting if Google PH, somehow gave away free tickets to it’s employees to watch this movie. 🙂
Here’s the official trailer of “The Intern” below:
