Interest-based social Q&A website Formspring just announced that they’ll be service will cease to operate on March 31, 2013. Formspring Founder and CEO Ade Olonoh said that they’re shutting down the service being the company can no longer sustain the resources to keep the service running.

Ade Olonoh also said that March 31 will be the last day you’ll be able to ask questions or post content on Formspring but you will have until April 15 to export your responses before the entire site to permanently shut down.

Launched last November 25, 2009, Formspring the pioneer in social Q&A site then later relaunched to focus more on conversations built around different kinds of interests. At its popularity Formspring grew to more than 30 million registered users and 4 billion posts. It could be its competition with Quora and Ask.FM or the lack of innovation that killed the company and it’s sad to see a great service to shut down than being acquired by larger company.
