Last February, Sony officially announced the PlayStation 4 even though the console itself was a no-show and since Sony got their cat out of the box, it’s just a matter of time before we hear some whispers regarding the next Microsoft gaming console the xbox 720.
If you’re waiting for some news about Xbox 720, then here are some of the news or rumors that are floating around the net. We all know that aside from the mouse, Xbox is one of the best hardware that Microsoft have ever manufactured, so we can assume that the Xbox 720 will more powerful and faster hardware.
Here’s what TechRadar has reported about the hardware of the Xbox 720:
- Processor: AMD Jaguar-based processor running at 1.6 GHz – the same with Playstation 4
- GPU: AMD GPU that’s a revision of the AMD’s 7000 series graphics based on its 28nm Graphics Core Next (GCN) Southern Islands tech but with 12 processing clusters – slightly less powerful than the one used by PlayStation 4
- RAM: 8 GB separate from graphics memory – Playstation 4 uses 8 GB unified GDDR5 memory
Since Xbox 720 and Playstation 4 share a number of hardware, the Xbox 720 may not be backward compatible like the Playstation 4, though it’s been reported that Microsoft might release an add-on that’s basically a stripped-down version of xbox 360 and can be connected or docked with the 720 to run older games.
As for the controllers, as an xbox 360 owner, I really don’t see microsoft making any major changes with it’s controller though Microsoft will surely release a new and improved Kinect with better motion detection, camera and microphone.
In any new gadget announcement, I think the most important and the most often left-out information is the availability and price, since Playstation 4 is already slated to be release by the end of 2013, it just make sense for Microsoft to release Xbox 720 the same time Playstation 4 becomes available and it will be announce by Microsoft this coming May 21, 2013 but with a full unveiling at E3 in early June 2013.
A console will be useless with titles and here are some of the titles that will be available once Xbox 720 is release.
- Rainbow 6: Patriots
- Watch Dogs
- Beyond Good and Evil 2
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Dragon Age 3
- Battlefield 4
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
- Thief (a reboot)
- Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag
- Sniper Elite 3
- Pro Evolution Soccer 2014
- Halo 5 (of course)
These reports are still considered rumors and will surely change until Microsoft make Xbox 720 officials.
