JAPETH Aguilar hit a wide-open baseline jumper at the buzzer to lift Barangay Ginebra to a thrilling 97-96 win over San Miguel on Friday night, moving the league’s most popular team within a win of a return to the PBA Finals.
Rookie Scottie Thompson put together the first triple double by a local this season to stand out for Ginebra, but it was Aguilar who made the shot that mattered the most in a helter-skelter final offensive play that saw misses by Justin Brownlee and Thompson himself.
This series will give me a heart-attack. Ginebra now leads the series 2 – 1. Ginebra can clinch the series and advance to the PBA Finals Sunday night.
Game note; Scottie Thompson had a triple-double performance, while Tenorio LA was flirting with a triple-double game as well. 20 points, 9 assists and 10 rebounds.
