The original Ghost in the Shell movie to return to the big screen

The live action movie of Ghost in the Shell will be in theaters this March 31, 2017, starring Scarlett Johansson as The Major, leader of the elite task force Section 9. But before that, the original anime where the film is based will return to the big screen in the US and in UK.

Released in 1995, “Ghost in the Shell” anime was based on the manga written and illustrated by Masamune Shirow, which ran in Japan from April 1989 to November 1990 in Kodansha’s manga anthology Young Magazine.

Premise of the anime;

In the year 2029, cybernetic government agent, Major Motoko Kusanagi and the Internal Bureau of Investigations are hot on the trail of “The Puppet Master”—a mysterious and threatening computer virus is capable of infiltrating human hosts. Working closely with her fellow agents from Section 9, the Major embarks on a high-tech race against time to capture the omnipresent entity.

The anime film will be in UK theaters for one night only on 25 January and in the US, it will be in 110 theaters in February 7, for original Japanese with subtitled version, and in February 8, for the English dubbed version. You can visit the Funimation website for more details
