Apple refreshes “current” Mac Pro after announcing a “completely redesigned” Mac Pro and pro-displays

Apple together with a “selected few” journalist and bloggers announced that Apple will release a “completely redesigned” Mac Pro, that will feature a “modular design” to accommodate high-end CPU and GPU, and to make it easier for Apple to update it with new components on a regular basis. The company also said that they’re working on an Apple-branded pro display for the “new” Mac Pro.

After announcing the “new” Mac Pro, Apple announced that they’re updating the current Mac Pro with new and faster CPU and GPU without increasing the price.

The current $2999 model will now have 6-Core Processor and Dual GPU;

  • 3.5GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5 processor
  • 16GB 1866MHz DDR3 ECC memory
  • AMD FirePro D500 with 3GB GDDR5 VRAM each
  • 256GB PCIe-based flash storage

And the current $3,999 model will now feature a 8-Core and Dual GPU;

  • 3.0GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon E5 processor
  • 16GB 1866MHz DDR3 ECC memory
  • Dual AMD FirePro D700 with 6GB GDDR5 VRAM each
  • 256GB PCIe-based flash storage

The $2999 model previously have 4 Xeon CPU and dual AMD G300 GPU, while the $3999 model was using a 6 core CPU and a dual D500 GPU.
