Elon Musk tweets photos of the first production unit of Tesla Model 3

On his twitter account, Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted photos of the first Tesla Model 3 that came out of Tesla’s production plant in Fremont, California.

The rights for the first Tesla Model 3 was previously held by Tesla Board Member Ira Ehrenpreis but gave it to Elon Musk as a gift for his 46th birthday.

The first 30 customers will receive their Model 3 later this month. The company plans to produce 100 cars in August, 1,500 in September and 20,000 by the end of this year. Anyone can reserve their Model 3 for $1,000 but wont get it until 2018.

Announced more than a year ago, the Tesla Model 3 is the company’s first mass market electric car and their most affordable model with a starting price of $35,000. The Tesla Model 3 features Autopilot, 215 miles per charge with an acceleration of 0 to 60 mph in less than 6 seconds.
