Facebook intros Messenger Lite App to U.S., U.K. and other emerging markets

In a move that appears to have been copied from Twitter, Facebook is releasing the Android-only app Messenger Lite to the United States, United Kingdom, as well as in Kenya, Tunisia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Venezuela. The social media giant also said that it will also be available in other countries in the coming months.

Facebook Messenger Lite is a strip-down version of the Messenger, that contains the core features of Messenger for countries with slow connection and where basic Android smartphones is popular.

The Facebook Messenger Lite app is less than 10MB to install, saves data, loads fast and uses less mobile data. Facebook Messenger Lite app can be installed and be use on Android phones running version 2.3 (Gingerbread) or higher.
