Written by | Business, Tech

InterAksyon.com, the online news portal of TV5 will shutdown this March. The news of Interaskyon’s closure was later confirmed by its editor-in-chief, Roby Alampay, who is now working as an editor at BusinessWorld. Both BusinessWorld and InterAksyon.com are majority-owned by the PLDT Group.

According to NewsBytes; “InterAksyon employees were informed in mid-2017 of the site’s impending shutdown. It has been operating without regular reporters since last year and has also stopped getting contractual workers starting this year.”

Alampay also said in an article on Rappler, TV5 is “rationalizing and integrating all its digital properties and consolidating all the brands under News5.com.ph.”

Interaksyon.com is just one of the many news website to be in the news this month. Last week, SEC cancelled Rappler’s license to operate because of an issue with its ownership and CNN Philippines dismissed 60 staff due to “right-sizing.”
