Facebook’s Messenger Kids, a strip-down version of Messenger and allows parents to control who kids can connect and talk to, is rolling-out to Android devices and now available on Google Play Store.

Messenger Kids is a free video calling and messaging app designed for kids to connect with close friends and family from their tablet or smartphone. Kids can only connect with parent-approved contacts, which creates a more controlled environment. A kid does not need to have a Facebook account in order to use Messenger Kids, since parents or guardians use their own Facebook accounts to authorize their kids’ Messenger Kids accounts.

Messenger Kids’ android release has been a long time coming, since Facebook initially release Messenger Kids on iOS and though Android is the most wide used mobile OS on the planet, Amazon Fire tablets is the second platform to get Messenger Kids.

The new Messenger Kids for Android will be available on Google Play Store today.
